We have been cleaning out our house collecting what we think are decent garage sale items. This has been a nasty process of diggin’ deeper into the closets than I would care to venture. Not to mention finding unopened boxes from when we moved in 7 years ago. Do you open those? or Do you figure, I’ve lived 7 years with out what ever is in that box I probably don’t need it and and won’t miss it. But as I’m sure you well know, when you get in there and really start looking at what it is you’ve hanging on to all this time it’s amazing the things you find.
So what treasure did we find, what tricket of old was left lying in the dust?
It was none other than a Jooky Shaft.
“What is a Jooky Shaft?”
Well I’m glad you asked.
Lets step into my time machine and travel back to where this all started. Back in the late 90′s, about 2 Christmases after I got married, my family decided to ‘change’ the way we do gifts. You know that always ends up for the better. Right?
Wrong!!! The proposed change from gift for everyone, was to gifts for couples. As in a gift for me and my wife to share, my brother and his wife, my sister and her husband, and … you get the picture. Since my brother and I are complete optimists we could only see the good that could come from this. WHATEVER!! No good can come from this sort of crazy idea. There is nothing that you could get my wife and I that would be mutually agreed upon as being equally wanted by the other.
This is where the Jooky Junk comes in. This was an old Sprite commercial poking fun at what other cola companies had to do to get you to buy there product. So my brother, Tim, came up with this great Idea. Come Christmas day as the couples gifts were being handed out there appeared to be an extra one. One for me. I must admit I got a little excited. Until I opened it.
It was a Jooky Shaft. Tim fashioned it out of a phallic shaped shovel handle then made an authentic looking Jooky label. How appropriate. And as for the couples gifts, we were spot on. They were way more feminine then any possible man gift ever could be. That Christmas has since been known as the year we all got shafted and I got the shaft.
And so for your viewing enjoyment I am including one of the original commercial spots I found on youtube.

Okay, that was funny.
