I just saw District 9… oh wait, maybe I should back up. I went out the other night with some old friends, first we eat, then we fished (didn’t catch anything), and then they were all like, lets go see a movie. I said,’So what movie are we going to see?’. They replied with,’District 9!’. And so I was all,’ oh yeah! District 9 I know that one. It’s all aliens and scifi stuff.’
I’d seen the trailers and the movie posters, but for some reason I never got what the movie was about.
I went in thinking it’s an Alien Nation and V mix, but… it was more of a mash-up of Alien and Dodge Ball meets Lethal Weapon 2 minus Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, of course. I should have known from the trailers before the movie that this was going to be a little dark. But this is one brutal movie.
The story is by far one of Hollywoods best originals. I’m getting tired of the constant remakes(here, here, and here) they have been doing that, for the most part, suck. This was refreshingly different. The whole documentary movie theme made me skeptical at first, since i figured it was a cover for poor CGI. But once the cameras stopped shaking I was blown-away at the incredibly realistic renderings of these creatures.
I’m not going to ruin this movie incase there just happens to be one other scifi lover out there, that doesn’t know whats up with this movie, and still wants to see it.
If you happen to like Alien, Aliens, Alien Nation, V, Terminator, Predator, and any other action packed edge of your seat movie, you should like this one too.
