I fought with myself over which forum we should use.  I did all the research on the different forums and how they work with Wordpress.  I looked at all of them: PHPbb, SMF, Vanilla, and bbPress.  At first I chose bbpress, I liked the integration and easy customization.  And it was working great!  Until Wordpress upgraded.  Then bbPress broke.   Now bbPress is in an alpha build state and now where near ready for a production site.  So I just recently finished installing SMF.  And Bam! We have working forums.
